DIY options
- Rubber bands: Rubber band locks are very similar to cabinet cord locks. The main difference is that they are completely cost-free in most cases. But even if you don’t have them at home, they’re pretty cheap.
- Zip ties: Zip tie locks are made for cabinets and cupboards. They don’t work well with drawers, etc. These come with loops that are used to tighten the handles/knobs.
- Yardstick or dowel rod: If it is possible, you can simply put a stick or dowel rod through drawer handles. The solution doesn’t look nice, however, your kid won’t be able to open the drawer.
- Ribbon or rope: This kind of method, doesn’t require much explaining, now does it? Take a ribbon or a rope and tie a bow around the knobs. If it is possible, do it twice to make sure your kid cant open it. The downside of this method is that you will have to untie the bow each time you need something and tie it back again.
